Lunakai Lash: Look Good, Do Good.

by | Feb 23, 2023

Say hello to the first biodegradable Lash Brand with ocean conservation in mind!

Recent years have seen a shift in the beauty industry. With more makeup brands transitioning to clean, vegan formulations and adopting sustainability, other products are following suit for the greater good.

As lash extensions become a beauty maintenance staple, LunaKai Lash saw an opportunity to fill the demand while being kinder to the planet. Founded by Andra Lee Tashjian, an international award-winning lash artist, esthetician, and massage therapist, she set out to develop the first eco-friendly lash brand available to professionals.

As a coastal California native, she developed a deep love and passion for the ocean. This led her to become more environmentally conscious in both her personal and professional life. She became increasingly aware of the waste her lash room was producing and decided our lashes needed a brand to reduce its environmental impact. So LunaKai Lash was born to create beautiful lash sets without the industry’s carbon footprint on our planet and oceans. In doing so, she opted to contribute to the environment’s well-being by doing monthly clean-ups for Get Outdoors Nevada, a non- profit organization that provides education and volunteer services to our southern Nevada neighbors.

Small changes compound into larger, more impactful results. Which is why LunaKai Lash commits to using little to no plastic, swapping it out for sustainable packaging and bamboo disposables. These steps help make it an excellent alternative for anyone looking to reduce their environmental impact while still getting their beauty fix.

To contribute to their focus of preserving our oceans and marine life, LunaKai Lash donates 1% of all sales to Coral Gardeners and the #wethereef coral restoration program to help keep our oceans beautiful.

The cosmetic industry’s contribution to ocean pollution is no secret. Microplastics from personal care products and cosmetics are a significant source of the problem, as well as the estimated 120 billion units of packaging per year, most of which are not recyclable or biodegradable.

According to a 2020 report by the United Nations, an estimated 8 million tons of plastic end up in the ocean each year, with the number projected to double by 2025. This is already creating a devastating impact on marine life, and it’s crucial that we take action now to reduce our waste by supporting companies that are committed to sustainable practices.

Aside from the beauty aspect, LunaKai Lash uses their social media platforms to educate the community on how to join the movement by sharing valuable information and tips on daily recycling ideas and more. Inspiring people to make better, more sustainable choices, the brand also shines a light on ocean conservation, reef restoration, and other environmental causes.

Founder Andra believes, “small changes by us can create big differences.” With a brand like LunaKai, you can have your cake and eat it too, all while doing good along the way. To make the switch, use the code: ‘ecofriendlylash’ on lunakailash.com for a lash habit that makes you feel gorgeous and keeps our planet just as beautiful.
