I’m a third-culture kid who divides her roots between Southeast Asia and LA. I’m a journalist who loves to travel and learn about the world while taking things one story at a time.
Sunday mornings are everyone’s favorite moment of the week. What do you spend your time doing?
I usually spend my Sunday mornings having a late lay-in because of how my schedule is usually during the work week. I barely get good quality sleep – so I squeeze in as much as I can. When I finally get up, an iced americano is in order, along with avocado toast.
What are you most grateful for?
I am extremely grateful to my loved ones for being there for me through thick and thin.
Everyone has a Eureka moment, when do you feel the most inspired?
Since I work remotely, I always feel inspired/ rejuvenated when I travel. I got bit by the travel bug when I was 11 years old — we went on a multi-way trip to Hongkong, Macau and Malaysia. Now as a writer, it gives me a significant creative boost to write about stories unknown from different parts of the world.
What was your most profound learning experience?
My most profound learning experience hit me during my early years of university, and I had to learn the hard way about fighting for what I wanted to do and going for it, despite how many mistakes I have incurred along the way. Also, I am learning how to not let the merit of my life’s actions to be dictated by the success of others.
What is your biggest pet peeve? It can be anything and it’s no holds-barred.
It’s shallow, vapid and insubstantial conversations that don’t yield anything positive other than crude remarks and trouble.
What are the three things you can’t live without?
Books, Art, and Great Skin care.
What are your most guilty pleasures?
Crime Documentaries, Korean BBQ, and 80s music.
What is a trend that you wish to obliterate forever?
Crab mentality – a way of thinking best described by the phrase “if I can’t have it, neither can you.”
