Short Bio
Hi! My name is Jy (rhymes with “pie”). I am a First-Generation American storyteller who began acting professionally at age 11. I earned my BA in English with a concentration in Creative Writing and a double minor in Theater and Film (FTVDM) from UCLA (summa cum laude) before developing my film production company, Rhymes With Pie Productions.
My goal as an artist—actor, writer, director, and producer—is to portray authentic, raw, and socially impactful stories about women that will expand and evolve cinema as we know it. Mowgli and Myrtle, my two rescue mutts/muses, keep me company out in LA and remind me of our shared hometown Santa Fe, New Mexico
In each day we’re alive, tell us the three things you’re grateful for:
Connecting with loved ones (my dogs and my book club), consuming art (love to read), and experimenting in the kitchen (pasta sauces and sour doughs).
Favorite type of music:
Music from any genre that’s catchy and moves my soul (Favorites include Mika, Barenaked Ladies, and Taylor Swift).
Who would you switch lives with for one day if you could:
The author Elizabeth Gilbert. I’ve been re-reading her books lately and I love how her mind works. I’d love to experience the world through her five senses.
Name the biggest pet peeve you have- no holds barred:
Cannot STAND it when people pick at their nails. I can hear it from a mile away.
How do you psyche yourself up for the day ahead:
The perfect day begins with reading in bed or journaling, a cup of tea, a hydrating eye mask, and a neighborhood walk with the dogs.

Go to products in your bag you can’t live without:
Floss, lip gloss, xylitol gum, ear plugs, and my Costco card!
How do you use Sundays to destress from work:
I usually use Sundays to catch up on work, but occasionally, it’s fun to have a “bed day”—a day where you leave bed for nothing but to use the restroom or replenish your snacks. But most Sundays, I like to hit the farmer’s market, make a loose plan for meals for the week, and clean the house.
How would you describe yourself:
I would say I’m a witty, enthusiastic, deep-souled epistemophiliac, as well as an insatiable bibliophile and a baby witch 🙂
What is your biggest weakness and strength:
My biggest strength is my curiosity, drive, and flame of ambition. My greatest weakness also often serves me as a strength: my empathy.
What’s your hidden talent that no one, not even your partner knows about:
I can do a voice. I call it “the rye voice.” Maybe you’ll hear it on an animated show one day. I also love to read tarot, but I’m pretty open about that.
What’s one trend you would obliterate forever:
Fake kindness for personal gain. That one’s gotta go.

The best compliment you ever got from anyone:
Two friends have made observations about me that will stick with me forever: “You are a lifelong lover of learning” and “You are violently independent”. To be seen, I think, is the highest compliment.
