NAME

Miia Harris

Occupation

Actor

Short Bio

Originally from North Carolina, Miia Harris is a half-Finnish half-African American actress who started acting at the young age of six. She is known for her role as Clawdeen Wolf in the Paramount +/Nickelodeon movie franchise Monster High, as well as her roles as Candy in Dynasty (The CW), Aspen in Just Beyond (Disney +), and Ilana in That Girl Lay Lay (Nickelodeon).

When asked how she got into acting, she has never found the right way to answer as it seems it has always just been an innate part of her. However, her love for books, stories, and getting completely lost in a universe other than her own might have something to do with it. Miia feels deeply tied to most areas of the arts, spending her free time writing music, reading, baking, and just finding any new way to scratch that creativity itch.

In addition to the arts, she has an undying love for hummus, lollipops, and Shark Week!

In each day we’re alive, tell us the three things you’re grateful for:

The invention of FaceTime (I have to FaceTime my mom at least once a day), knowing great love in my life, and fresh flowers (particularly mums and carnations).

Favorite type of music:

Anything singer-songwriter is my favorite. I like wordy songs with melancholic energy. Taylor Swift and Lana Del Rey are always my go-to.

Who would you switch lives with for one day if you could:

If I could switch lives with someone for one day, I would have to switch species and go for being an Australian Ringneck bird for a day. They are parrots native to Australia, so I would get to explore a new place for an entire day while flying.

It sounds like a sweet gig. And assuming the switch is mutual, I would love to hear what an Australian Ringneck did for the day living my life. We would both come out of it with great stories to tell.

Name the biggest pet peeve you have- no holds barred:

I think I am a person who has a lot of pet peeves but the biggest one that comes to mind is when people, myself included, don’t immediately change out of their airplane clothes after leaving the airport.

How do you psyche yourself up for the day ahead:

I try my very best not to go on my phone right when I wake up, so I like to start my day by reading in bed. I usually pick up a romance novel and after reading for much longer than I probably should, my brain feels adequately numbed with dramatic declarations of love and I feel ready to take on the day.

Go to products in your bag you can’t live without:

Some kind of lip gloss, my Rare Beauty comfort aromatherapy pen, my Salt & Stone mini deodorant in the scent “neroli and basil”, watermelon ice breakers for an emergency sweet treat, and way too many hair ties for one person.

How do you use Sundays to destress from work:

My schedule and my Sunday routines are always changing! If I am working on a project, Sundays are a great day to spend time outside getting some vitamin D and making sure all my ducks are in a row for the week ahead. I love a huge breakfast, so many Sundays are also spent in the kitchen making pancakes and fresh whipped cream (which is the key to any breakfast feast). In general, I’d say my dream Sunday is filled with lots of reading, sleeping, and eating!

How would you describe yourself:

I am a lover of books, stories, dreams, kind people, good movies, bad movies, traveling, staying at home, oversized sweaters, and good food. I’m a bad texter, a bad plant mom, and a chronic over-seasoner when it comes to cooking. And I always try my best!

What is your biggest weakness and strength:

I would say my biggest strength is also my biggest weakness at times, and that is how hard I love. I am a Pisces who spends a lot of time with her nose shoved in a poetry book, which could be seen as a recipe for disaster, but I am a proud lover girl, through and through.

What’s your hidden talent that no one, not even your partner knows about:

I don’t think I have a hidden or weird talent that not one knows about, and if I do, it’s still hidden from me as well. But something not everyone would know about me is that I speak Finnish! My mom’s side of the family lives in Finland, so I have spoken it my whole life. Rakastan Suomea!

What’s one trend you would obliterate forever:

One trend I have obliterated forever, for myself, is low-rise socks. Never again will I have a sock shimmy halfway down my foot in a shoe. But if that’s your thing, rock on.

The best compliment you ever got from anyone:

I don’t know if I have a specific favorite compliment I have ever received, but it was definitely from my mom. She is my greatest hype woman forever and always.
