Vaping to Quit Cigarettes? Why You Should Use Nicotine Pouches Instead

It’s no secret that smoking does kill, and while a majority of people struggle in going cold-turkey, it’s been shown that it can be difficult to quit. Research has shown that cigarette smoking is known to cause a number of health risks, including cancer, heart disease, diabetes, stroke, and lung problems. As such, many smokers are seeking ways to ease into the cessation process and eventually quit the use of cigarettes. Nowadays, There are different ways to aid smoking cessation, and vapes have been all the rage with numerous brands coming out with vapes in different shapes, colors, and sizes.

In line with this, a study on smokers revealed that 7 in 10 adults who smoked and vaped claimed that vaping helped them quit cigarette use altogether. While this can be seen as a successful step in decreasing the smoking population, there are some studies that showed how vaping presents its own health risks. As such, it may be worth it to look into other smoking alternatives like nicotine pouches, which have a lot of the benefits of vapes and none of the added risks.

Why Vaping Has More Risks Than You Think

E-cigarettes, also known as vaping devices, are hand-held instruments that work similarly to traditional cigarettes. These don’t need to be activated with a lighter, but puffing from a vape activates a battery-powered heating device that transforms the liquid in the cartridge into inhalable vapors. While vapes don’t contain tobacco as traditional cigarettes do, they still have nicotine and other chemicals that present a few health risks. According to the National Institutes of Health, the risks of vaping include lung damage because of the flavorings and ingredients found in the vape liquid.

Some common components of the juice used to create vapors are propylene glycol, vegetable glycerin, and flavorings that are meant to be eaten but not inhaled. All of these are heated when using a vape device and become potentially dangerous chemicals. Furthermore, vaping subjects the lungs to the constant challenge of not having enough air since those who use vapes puff harmful chemicals into the lungs quite frequently. Although there have yet to be studies on the long-term effects of vaping, the current data points towards more harm than good in using these devices.

What Are Nicotine Patches and How Can They Help?

Nicotine pouches are a form of nicotine replacement therapy (NRT), alongside other products like nicotine gum and lozenges, which are some of the most widely used family of products to aid in smoking cessation. These pouches bear a lot of similarities to vape devices, as they don’t contain tobacco, have flavorings present, and come in different nicotine strengths. However, this isn’t a new product out on the market since this is commonly used in Northern Europe, known as Snus, it is mostly popular in countries like Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland. While this is unlike vape devices, nicotine pouches are completely smoke-free and do not subject the lungs to damage from inhaling vapors.

What makes nicotine pouches special is that they are convenient to use and can be consumed in areas where smoking is prohibited. This is beneficial for those trying to quit cigarettes, as they can easily place a nicotine pouch between their lip and teeth to satisfy cravings while on the go. Furthermore, these pouches come in a wide variety of flavors, as seen in the nicotine pouches on Prilla.

Flavors like spearmint, citrus, cinnamon, coffee, apple, mango, and cherry are available across different brands of nicotine pouches since these enhance the experience of using the product. These are also available in varying nicotine strengths and can be purchased in small packs of five or in bulk cans, depending on how much a smoker needs to satisfy their dependence.

Additionally, given their convenience, you can use nicotine pouches alongside other habits to avoid the effects of smoking withdrawals. You can start exercising, reducing caffeine intake, and engaging in relaxation methods to curb stress. These methods include meditation, going for a massage, or getting into the habit of taking cold showers since it can reduce stress levels and make you less likely to crave a cigarette.

Overall, vaping has its benefits in terms of quitting cigarettes, but the vapor being inhaled presents risks that could harm the lungs over time. It is, therefore, important to seek smoking cessation methods like nicotine pouches that can reduce the effects of cigarettes while still being able to curb the symptoms of withdrawal.
