1. What inspired the design of this modernist home?
The design of the house is credited to Architect William Bray, of Los Angeles, after partnering with Westview Development Corporation to create a Golf Course neighborhood in conjunction with the planned Tahquitz Creek Golf Club in 1959. Casa Agave was built in 1965 and sits on the 8th fairway of the Laurence Hughs-designed course.
2. How did you balance functionality and style in the space?
A clear intention in the design of the house was the ease of transition between indoor and outdoor spaces, a popular concept in many mid-century designs of the area. Seamless indoor/outdoor dining and lounges were key elements.
3. Can you share any unique features or innovations incorporated into the design?
We’ve focused on simplicity and uncluttered spaces, with discreet solar panels and nearly silent HVAC systems. Access to the outdoors is immediate from almost every room of the house.
