NAME
Hannah Reneè
Occupation
Day Job: Beer Slinger, Night Job: Joke Slinger
Short Bio
Hannah Reneè didn’t just move to Los Angeles for a job—she moved for destiny. (Okay, fine, a paycheck first, but then destiny.) A marketing executive in beer by day, and now a stand-up comic by night, she took the plunge into comedy in 2023, after a hilarious breakup prompted her to give her dreams of standup a chance. Now, she’s earned her spot on legendary stages like The Comedy Store, The Improv, and Ice House. She’s also performed at RIOT Grl Comedy Fest and Boulder Comedy Festival, opened for touring acts like Zane Lamprey, and even hit the road herself, bringing her sharp, beer-fueled humor to Colorado, Oregon, and beyond. When she’s not on stage, Hannah works in leadership at a regional brewery and is a Certified Cicerone—which is just a fancy way of saying she knows way too much about beer. After 10 years in the industry, she’s got plenty of material, and trust us, she’s pouring it out on stage.
In each day we’re alive, tell us the three things you’re grateful for:
My Friends – always my friends. I am obsessed with the talented, wonderful humans I’ve somehow tricked into being a part of my life. They inspire me every day.
My Life – I feel really grateful that I’ve had the opportunity to live such a full and rich life. I’ve saved lives, I’ve broken hearts, I’ve had my heart broken, I’ve moved, changed jobs, changed lifestyles. I’m squeezing everything I possibly can out of this life and I don’t take that for granted.
My Work Ethic – I’ve always been a hard worker, it’s something I’m really proud of. Especailly in an industry like standup you HAVE to be willing to put in the time and effort. You gotta love the work even more than you love the “glory.”
Favorite type of music:
I have categorically awful taste in music. If you leave me alone – it’s bubble gum pop, early 2000’s pop punk, and trash party country. That being said, I used to drive one of those cycle pubs in my early 20s which gave me a very unique skill of being able to pick the right playlist for any group/occasion/mood. It also helps me hide the fact that Kesha was a top artist on my Spotify Wrapped for the past 5 years…
Who would you switch lives with for one day if you could:
Chelsea Handler – very specifically on her birthday when, each year, she goes skiing naked with a margarita in one hand and a blunt in the other. I need to know what that is like. Also a body swap situation is the only way I can afford a heliski trip. Although I’d hate to take her birthday from her… maybe I’ll just swap bodies with Chelsea the day she books the tickets and sneak a gal named Hannah Reneé onto the list.
Name the biggest pet peeve you have- no holds barred:
Posting about a cause/issue/etc. on social media rather than doing something about it. Look, I’m all for “raising awareness” but you should back it up with some time/money/effort outside of social media. Don’t be a publicist. Be a volunteer. Get off the ‘gram and grab a shovel – or whatever you are physically, mentally, financially, capable of doing. The point is – do something.
How do you psyche yourself up for the day ahead:
After the standard half-hour of doom scrolling, I usually start my day listening to one of my favorite comedy podcasts while I get ready. Since I work in the beer biz, my standard get-up is a t-shirt, jeans, and sunscreen – I am criminally low maintenance. I oscillate between being a coffee person or an energy drink person, but somehow caffeine will be involved. Then I listen to whatever song/artist I’m hyper-fixated on for the drive to work, and that’s my morning.

Go to products in your bag you can’t live without:
My joke book, can’t live without her. The pen from the Museum of Love where I got dumped (the whole impetus of me starting standup – long story, come to a show and I’ll tell you all about it!) and this pretty purple crystal I bought with my sister in Portland that I’m 100% certain is the reason for all of my success.
How do you use Sundays to destress from work:
I usually block out my Sundays to be whatever they need to be for me – since I work full time and do standup as much as I possibly can – that can change from week to week. Some Sundays I need a day to hide in my apartment and not be perceived for 24 straight hours. Other times I need to get my life back in order so I go to the gym, grocery shopping, laundry – remember GTL from the Jersey Shore? Yeah, its kinda like that, minus the tan.
How would you describe yourself:
An overly ambitious, semi-perfectionist, semi-professional, wannabe cool girl… who’s actually pretty dang cool.
What is your biggest weakness and strength:
Biggest Strength – My sense of humor – duh! Beyond just joke writing, I think there is such power in being able to find the funny in everything. Making fun of the things that scare you is strength, you’re taking away the power from that thing and making it digestible. Biggest Weakness – I get in my own way a lot. I’m still fairly new to “the biz” and the self-promotion side of this really fires up my imposter syndrome. I have to constantly remind myself that I deserve to be here.
What’s your hidden talent that no one, not even your partner knows about:
I know a decent amount about sewing – I’ve sewn quilts before. Not a lot of people know that. My grandma is the one who taught me, she loved to sew – she made us all these incredible wall hangings and little sewing projects all the time. It’s something I look forward to continuing to develop – like I’d love to make quilts for my friends someday.
What’s one trend you would obliterate forever:
These “get ready with me” videos – look I get it – it’s an easy way to create fodder for your IG but it’s just not artistic or creative to me at all. I could care less about what you do to get ready, I wanna see what you did AFTER you got ready. Show me more about your life than your skincare routine… but also what was that mascara you used?
